Overview

RunSmart Online, LLC ("RunSmart," "we," or "us") recognizes and respects the importance of maintaining the privacy of our customers, registered members ("Members"), and users, and has established this Privacy Policy as a result. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using RunSmart, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This Privacy Policy is part of the Terms of Use, which governs your use of the RunSmart platform.

We may collect demographic information, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, interests, and favorites. If you choose to make a purchase or sign up for a paid subscription service, we will ask for additional information, such as billing details, which are used to create a billing account with our secure payment processor (Stripe).

This policy applies to the RunSmart website, the RunSmart mobile application (iOS and Android), and any related services operated by RunSmart Online, LLC.

Information We Collect

We collect information through our website, emails, mail, and telephone — including when you place an order, participate in surveys, contests, sweepstakes, promotions, content submissions, membership registrations, and engage in other activities, services, products, and resources we make accessible to our customers, members, or users.

Information you provide directly:

  • Account registration information (name, email address, password)

  • Profile and training information (running history, goal race, preferred training days, goal finish time)
  • Demographic information (ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, interests, favorites)
  • Payment and billing information (processed securely by Stripe — RunSmart does not store full payment card details)
  • Contact information for others, where provided (names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses)
  • Communications you send to us (support requests, feedback, survey responses)

The information you provide to us may be collected even if an order, registration, or other process is started but not completed or otherwise canceled.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data (pages visited, videos watched, features accessed, and how you interact with the website or app)
  • Device information (device type, operating system, browser type)
  • Log data (IP address, access times, referring URLs)
  • Session recordings and behavioral data collected via Microsoft Clarity (see the Microsoft Clarity section below)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see the Cookies section below)

Information from third parties:

  • If you connect a wearable device (Apple Watch, Garmin, COROS), we may receive data from those integrations as authorized by you
  • App store platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play) may share limited information related to your purchase or subscription

Microsoft Clarity

To enhance your experience on our platform and continually improve our services, we use Microsoft Clarity, a user behavior analytics tool provided by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Clarity helps us understand how users interact with our website by collecting and analyzing user behavior data.

Data collection and processing: Microsoft Clarity may record your interactions with our website, such as mouse clicks, mouse movements, scrolling activity, and any text you type into our website. It does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) that you do not voluntarily enter on this website. Microsoft Clarity does not track your browsing habits across websites that do not use Microsoft Clarity services.

The information generated by Microsoft Clarity about your use of our website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Microsoft on servers in the United States. Microsoft will use this information to evaluate your use of our website, compile reports on website activity, and provide us with these reports for analytical purposes. Microsoft may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Microsoft's behalf.

Your opt-out rights: You have the right to opt out of Microsoft Clarity tracking at any time by visiting the Microsoft Clarity opt-out page and following the instructions provided. Opting out will not affect your ability to use our website.

We may update this section of our Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our use of Microsoft Clarity. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this policy and, in some cases, by adding a notice to our website or sending an email notification. If you have questions about our use of Microsoft Clarity, contact us at support@runsmartonline.com.

By continuing to use our platform, you consent to the processing of your data by Microsoft and by us as described above.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use our website and app — for example, which pages are viewed, which links and buttons are clicked, and how visitors move through signup. This helps us improve our website and measure the effectiveness of our marketing. Google Analytics is delivered through Google Tag Manager.

Data collection and processing: Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to collect information such as the pages you visit, the approximate geographic region you are visiting from, your device and browser type, and interactions such as link clicks. We do not send Google Analytics personally identifiable information such as your name or email address. The information collected is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers that may be located in the United States, and Google processes it on our behalf to compile reports on website activity. For more detail, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Your opt-out rights: You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or limit tracking by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. Opting out will not affect your ability to use our website.

Advertising & Retargeting

We use advertising pixels and similar technologies on our website to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and to show you relevant RunSmart ads on other platforms after you visit our site (a practice known as retargeting). These technologies are delivered through Google Tag Manager and currently include:

  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.): Collects information about your visit — such as the pages you view and actions you take, like clicking a signup link — and associates it with your Meta account if you have one. This allows us to show RunSmart ads to site visitors on Facebook and Instagram and to measure ad performance.
  • TikTok Pixel (TikTok Inc.): Collects similar visit and interaction information to enable RunSmart advertising and measurement on TikTok.

These providers may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies, and may combine the information collected on our site with other information they hold about you, as described in their own privacy policies: Meta Privacy Policy and TikTok Privacy Policy.

Your opt-out rights: You can control how these platforms use your data for advertising through your Meta ad preferences and your TikTok account's personalization and ads settings. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from many providers at optout.aboutads.info, or limit tracking by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.

Cookies

A "cookie" is a small data file sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your device. We use cookies to recognize you as a prior customer, user, or Member and to provide certain features to you. RunSmart uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the website and app to function correctly. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use our site (including Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Google Tag Manager).
  • Advertising cookies: Used by our advertising partners (Meta and TikTok) to show you relevant RunSmart ads on their platforms and measure ad performance. See the Advertising & Retargeting section above.
  • Preference cookies: Remember your settings and preferences across sessions.

Most web browsers allow you to instruct the browser to prevent the use of cookies. However, if you disable this feature, certain aspects of the RunSmart platform may not function properly now or in the future.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your data with trusted service providers who assist in operating our platform, including:

  • Payment processing: Stripe (payment processing) and Recurly (subscription management)
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (web analytics), Microsoft Clarity (website behavior analytics), Google Tag Manager
  • Advertising: Meta and TikTok (advertising measurement and retargeting — see the Advertising & Retargeting section)
  • Email services: Email service providers used to deliver transactional and marketing communications
  • Cloud infrastructure: Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and process data on our behalf

All third-party service providers are required to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws and under confidentiality agreements with RunSmart.

We may also disclose personal information when required by law, in response to legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RunSmart, our users, or others.

If RunSmart is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership via email or a prominent notice on our website.

Email Communications

We may use your contact information to send you periodic updates about new features, training plans, promotions, or special offers. Free members may also receive invitations to upgrade to Pro for enhanced access to our programs and content.

RunSmart sends two types of email communications:

Transactional emails: These are emails necessary to operate your account — including account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts, and plan notifications. You cannot opt out of transactional emails while maintaining an active RunSmart account.

Marketing emails: These include product updates, training tips, newsletter content, and promotional communications. You can manage your email preferences at any time through your account settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. You may also contact us at support@runsmartonline.com to opt out.

We will honor opt-out requests promptly. Note that even after opting out of marketing emails, you will continue to receive transactional messages related to your account.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you.

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

European residents may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@runsmartonline.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days. In some cases we may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
