You have probably heard it before. “You need to strengthen your hips/glutes/butt.”
It’s true, strength training is extremely important and there’s no better time to pile it on.
Here’s the thing: early in a traning cycle, and for most runners that’s now, the mileage is relatively low. Runners are working on building slowly to avoid injury or “get back into shape.”
This lower mileage phase of training is a perfect time to strength train (you have the time!). Focusing a few areas is important — but you’ll need to be “runner-specific” with your training.
